Description

COMVIT® B contains the most important members of the vitamin B group in therapeutically balanced proportions. The members of the vitamin B group contained in COMVIT® B are components of enzyme systems that regulate various stages of carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism, each of the components playing a specific biological role. Deficiency of B-vitamins includes glossitis, stomatitis, cheilosis, polyneuritis, beriberi, pellagra and vascularisation of cornea. COMVIT® B is a balanced combination of B-vitamins in appropriate and required amount to adequately replenish B-vitamin deficiency and to maintain the proper growth and resistance of body against diseases.

Indication

COMVIT® B is indicated for the treatment and/or prevention of vitamin B-complex deficiencies associated with restricted diets, improper food intake, alcoholism and decreased absorption. It is also indicated in patients with increased requirements for vitamins due to chronic disease, infections burns, in persons using alcohol to excess and in pregnancy. Preoperative and postoperative use can provide the increased amount of vitamins and minerals necessary for optimal recovery from the stress of surgery.

Dosage & Administration

Syrup: Children aged: 1 teaspoonful daily below 2 years.
Children aged 2-12 years: 1 teaspoonful thrice daily.
Adult and elderly: 1-2 teaspoonful thrice daily or as advised by the registered physician.
Capsule: Adult: 1-2 capsule thrice daily or as prescribed by the registered physician.

Precaution

It is not intended for treatment of severe specific deficiencies.

Side Effect

Side effects have been reported with specific vitamins, but generally at levels substantially higher than those in the syrup/tablet.

Drug Interaction

As little as 5mg pyridoxine daily can decrease the efficacy of levodopa in the treatment of parkinsonism.
